Harvex History

Oxford Station

1981

  •  Harvex became a joint venture with C.I.L. in Kemptville ON on 3 acres
  •  Started with 7 employees servicing Kemptville, South Mountain, Brinston, North Gower, Richmond and surrounding areas
  •  Started with 10 spreaders, 2 x 2 pocket tenders, 1 x 4 pocket tender, 3 NH3 tool bars and 12 NH3 nurse tanks
  •  Moved mostly fertilizer and chemical with some seed

1999

  •  Moved to the 35 acre Oxford Station location
  •  Private rail siding equipment, 110 fertilizer spreaders and 25 tender units

2018

Purchased Dixie & Egan in Addison

2021

Exited the NH3 Anhydrous Ammonia business due to excess rules, regulations and increasing insurance

 

 

2023

  •  Purchased the bulk fertilizer terminal in Oxford Station
  •  The terminal has 42,000 te of dry storage and a 10,000 te UAN tank
  •  Today Harvex has 27 full time staff, 5 CCA’s and 4 dedicated seed specialists ready to work with you to make your business successful.

Dixie & Egan started as a feed manufacturer, egg grading & Ful-o-Pep (Quaker) location

1957

John Creighton joined and bought shares in the business

1961

Switched to Nutrite Fertilizer

The current Addison location was bought with 19 acres of land

1974

The plant was bought by Purina

1985

Bulk fertilizer blender was built

2001

Dixie & Egan was bought by a group of longtime employees

2018

Dixie & Egan was bought by Harvex

2021

Early

Crysler 17 acre property was purchased. The original building was a smokehouse used for smoking pigs

1983

First spring of operation

1983-2001

Steady upgrade of delivery, mixing and bulk chemical equipment

2001

Extra storage was added to the main plant. Capacity went from 400 te to 800 te

2011

  •  New bulk chemical warehouse built
  •  Major renovation of the main office
  •  Old bulk chemical site converted to a maintenance shop

2017

Land clearing project started to make room for a new storage facility

2018

First part of the new fertilizer storage facility was completed

2020

Cleared more land for the second part of the new fertilizer storage facility

2021

  •  Extension was added to the fertilizer storage facility
  •  The fertilizer storage facility is now 180 x 70 with approximately 3000 te of storage
